Your Local Blink (/u/Zepz367) is SimDemocracy’s next Registration Officer, confirmed in referendum with 82.14% voting Aye — well past the simple majority of 50% plus one vote that appointments to the post require.
Zepz367 had already been confirmed by the Senate some days before the public vote. The Commissioner, informed of the Senate’s decision rather later than the Senate made it, put the question to referendum at the next opportunity.
A quiet handover
The outgoing Registration Officer, Mitchell, signed off the morning of the count after completing a final SUIT check, and reported an encouraging trend on the way out:
Mitchell also left behind the perennial reminder, which is repeated here in the hope that repetition eventually works: do not put your vote in the “SUIT” field. Ballots that do are not counted.
“And with that, my time as Registration Officer has finally (hopefully) ended,” Mitchell wrote. “I wish my successor all the best.”
The confirmation was released provisionally along with the same day’s constitutional referendum, pending outstanding questions about potentially invalid SUITs. At 82.14%, the appointment has room to spare.
