Stalin resigns from Expansion as Fede fills two offices inside a minute

The Secretary's departure, announced for a job away from the sim, was answered in under two minutes: the Chief of Staff moved across to Expansion pending confirmation, and Herman Miller into the Chief of Staff's office for, the President said, asking the nicest.

The Secretary for Expansion announced their resignation shortly after midday, five weeks into the job. Within two minutes the President had moved a successor into the department and backfilled the office that successor was leaving.

“This wasn’t an easy decision to make, however, I am starting a new job and believe it is best for the department and the administration to step down as secretary,” the Secretary wrote at 12:18pm. Government Announcements

The resignation does not take effect now. It is written to run “when my replacement is confirmed” — which leaves the Secretary in post, and the department under its existing management, until the Senate acts.

Two offices in a minute

At 12:19pm President Mercury Fede dismissed Aeronautical enjoyment as Chief of Staff and appointed them Secretary of Expansion, pinging the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker to start confirmation. The appointment carried one stated condition: “on the promise he changes his nickname.”

The Chief of Staff’s office did not stay empty. Herman Miller was appointed to it, the President said, “for being the person who asked the nicest.”

The two appointments were handled differently. Expansion went to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker for confirmation; the Chief of Staff’s post was announced without one, and appears to take effect on the President’s word alone.

Five weeks

The outgoing Secretary claimed a rebuilt bureaucracy and projects opened in each subdepartment, crediting “my wonderful team of talent I’ve found along the way.”

They also set the departure against a longer run in the sim: first joining in 2019 at fifteen, in the aftermath of their parents’ divorce, and leaving at twenty-two for a new job.

They said they hoped to return.

What is outstanding

The Senate has not voted on Expansion. Until it does, the resignation has not taken effect and the brief has not changed hands, whatever the announcement channel says. Herman Miller is Chief of Staff now.
