174th Senatorial Election
Take one member out
For each of the 10 senators, the count has been re-run over the same ballots with that person removed from the field. It shows how much of the chamber each seat is holding up.
- Seats
- 10
- Removable without knock-on
- 3
- Ballots
- 69
This is not a countback. A countback fills one vacancy and leaves the rest of the chamber alone. This re-runs the whole election without a candidate, which can move other seats too — and that difference is the point of the table. The two coincide only for the last seat filled, where this paper’s answer matches the Electoral Commission’s published countback exactly.

Next in line if the count simply kept going
The same ballots, the same quota, the same leftover voting power — the count just not stopped at the last seat. This is not a countback, because nothing is refunded: it is the order these ballots put people in once the chamber is full.
